Disappointing end for Reema and Theeba during Spa 24H

July 2, 2023

Four the third round of the 2023 Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, Reema Juffali was joined by teammates Ralf Aron and Alain Valente, with GT racing veteran Yannick Mettler joining the trio to complete the driver line-up for the Spa 24H.

Taking the race start on Saturday afternoon, Yannick drove well to maintain P16 in class in the opening laps, after a prolonged 20-minute Safety Car period,. By the end of his first stint, he’d dropped to P17, but re-joined in P16 after his initial stop.

After a double-stint, Ralf was able to take the wheel and join the pack in P12 due to another Safety Car period, which fit into the team’s Race Strategy.

Ralf handed over to Reema around four-hours into the race after his own successful double-stint. Battling alongside the #83 Iron Dames Lamborghini, Reema was able to hold onto position with astute defending.

After a short stint in the car, Reema handed over to Alain, who returned to the grid in P11. After six hours on the clock in total, Alain had to make am unscheduled pit stop due to a suspension issue. By the time the problem had been resolved, Theeba Motorsport had dropped to P18 in class and five laps behind the leading Bronze car.

After two hours in the car, Alain handed the car back over to Yannick, joining in P17. Just after the nine-hour mark, the #70 Lamborghini went into the gravel at Malmedy, stopping abruptly at the exit of the corner. Coming into the blind corner, Yannick was powerless to avoid the car and ended up impacting the Lamborghini. Yannick emerged from the incident unscathed, but Theeba Motorsport’s race was brought to an untimely and disappointing end.

Reema will continue her 2023 campaign with Theeba Motorsport in Round 5 of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe season at Misano WorldCircuit Marco Simoncelli.

Unfortunately, we got caught in an incident which meant the race was over for us with just a little over half the race left to run. Most important thing, Yannick who was driving at the time is ok. We had hoped to make it to the end of the race, but this is one of the toughest races out there and this time, it caught us out. A big thank you to the team for giving it their all. I’m proud of Theeba Motorsport.
